On July 16, automotive giant Stellantis announced its decision to discontinue its hydrogen fuel cell technology projects and to scrap plans for launching hydrogen-powered vehicles. This move was attributed to the anticipated lack of substantial market growth for hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles by the end of this decade. Consequently, the Pro One series of hydrogen-powered trucks, which were initially slated for mass production in France and Poland this year, will no longer proceed. Stellantis emphasized that this decision will not impact employees at production sites, and resources dedicated to hydrogen technology research and development will be reallocated elsewhere.
