Panasonic Holdings announced on July 14 that it has decided to delay the full-scale operation of its newly constructed electric vehicle battery factory in Kansas, USA. Originally slated to commence production by the end of fiscal year 2026, this postponement is attributed to the sluggish sales experienced by Tesla, a key customer of Panasonic. Consequently, Panasonic is reassessing its production plans. The factory, which represents an investment of approximately $4 billion and began construction in autumn 2022, is set to become Panasonic's second production hub in the United States. This delay underscores the widespread adjustments being made to related production and investment plans amid the slowdown in the global electric vehicle market.
