The "Yuanhaikou," the largest car carrier in the world featuring an onboard photovoltaic (PV) energy system operated by COSCO Shipping, has successfully completed its inaugural voyage and docked at the Port of Piraeus in Greece. The ship was carrying 4,000 Chinese-brand vehicles, with over 90% of them being new energy vehicles. The onboard PV system boasts a peak power output of 302.8 kW, capable of generating an estimated 410,000 kWh of electricity annually, thereby reducing carbon intensity by approximately 35% compared to traditional vessels over their entire lifespan. Additionally, the "Yuanhaikou" utilizes liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel dual-fuel engines, which achieve a 20% reduction in energy consumption and a carbon reduction rate exceeding 24%.
