During a live broadcast on June 12, Cui Dongshu, the Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, shared his perspective on the competitive imbalance between fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles. He personally revealed that he exclusively buys fuel vehicles and has never opted for new energy vehicles. Cui Dongshu emphasized that fuel vehicles are categorized as luxury goods, carrying a heavy tax burden, whereas new energy vehicles enjoy tax exemptions and lower costs, giving them an unfair advantage in the market. He further noted that despite fuel vehicles' substantial contributions to society through taxation and their assumed responsibilities, they often face unfavorable public perception. Additionally, Cui Dongshu maintains that fuel vehicles demonstrate strong environmental performance with lower lifecycle carbon emissions. Conversely, he pointed out that the production of electric vehicle batteries generates considerable carbon emissions.
