Volkswagen has revealed the mass-production version of its fully electric ID.2 hatchback, which is styled to resemble the discontinued sixth-generation Polo. Built on the MEB platform, this new model features a front-wheel-drive configuration and is equipped with cost-effective lithium iron phosphate batteries, aiming for a price tag of approximately $25,000. Additionally, Volkswagen is planning to introduce a performance-oriented ID.2 GTI variant and is contemplating the adoption of a fresh naming strategy to supersede the current "ID" series.
