On June 12, Cui Dongshu, the secretary-general of the China Passenger Car Association, revealed that he personally would not purchase a new energy vehicle. He holds the view that the lifecycle carbon emissions of fuel vehicles are comparatively low, whereas the production of electric vehicle batteries generates significant carbon emissions. Furthermore, he highlighted the existence of unfair competition between fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles in terms of pricing and the tax system.
