On June 10, it emerged that Steve Bannon, a former top advisor to Donald Trump, asserted that an overwhelming 90% of SpaceX's revenue stems from government contracts. Furthermore, he revealed that the company had recently concluded a funding round, valuing it at an impressive $318 billion. Bannon estimated that, given Musk's 50% ownership stake, he has amassed a net worth of between $100 and $150 billion through these government contracts. In sharp rebuttal, Musk dismissed Bannon as a 'moronic liar' and clarified that SpaceX is poised to generate $15.5 billion in revenue this year, with merely $1.1 billion originating from NASA contracts. Musk emphasized SpaceX's efficiency, noting that it has successfully transported all astronauts to the International Space Station at approximately half the cost of Boeing, which has yet to complete any astronaut return missions and relies on SpaceX for rescue operations. In a sarcastic tone, Musk commented that if Bannon's logic were to hold, purchasing a company's products would erroneously imply ownership of the company itself, a notion he deemed absurd.
