The Mexican National Association of Automotive Component Manufacturers (INAPRA) has expressed concern that the United States' increase in import tariffs on steel and aluminum derivatives from Mexico, from 25% to 50%, could adversely impact the competitiveness of Mexico's auto parts industry. This move has the potential to destabilize the North American supply chain and disrupt regional automobile production. The association fears that this tariff hike may jeopardize the seamless operation of the North American auto industry chain and has therefore urged for the exclusion of auto parts that meet the origin requirements stipulated in the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) from these tariff measures.
