On the morning of June 3, local time, the ro-ro ship "Morning Midas" encountered a fire approximately 300 miles off the coast of Alaska, USA. The vessel, which was transporting approximately 3,048 vehicles, including 70 battery electric vehicles and 681 hybrid electric vehicles, was en route from Yantai, China, to Mexico. Despite the crew's prompt activation of the fire extinguishing system, the blaze could not be contained. All 22 crew members were safely evacuated, and the US Coast Guard swiftly initiated a rescue operation. Firefighting efforts are ongoing, and the cause of the incident remains under investigation. Additionally, environmental protection teams have rushed to the scene to mitigate and manage any potential secondary disasters.
