On June 3, the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) issued a stark warning that China's tightening export controls on rare earth elements pose a significant threat to the continuity of production in Germany's automotive sector. The president of the VDA emphasized that rare earth magnets are indispensable for the manufacturing of automobiles. Despite China granting licenses to a select few rare earth producers, the VDA president asserted that this is insufficient to guarantee a steady supply of the components essential for production.
