As reported by The New York Times and Reuters, the United States has halted the sale of crucial jet engine technologies to China's Commercial Aircraft Corporation (COMAC). This move is widely viewed as a retaliatory response to China's implementation of rare earth export controls in April. American officials have suspended the relevant licenses that would have permitted U.S. companies to sell products and technologies to COMAC for the development of the C919 aircraft. The C919, produced by COMAC, represents China's first domestically developed mid-range jetliner with independent intellectual property rights.
