On May 28th, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) released data revealing a robust performance in the retail sales of passenger vehicles in China. From May 1st to 25th, sales reached 1.358 million units, marking a significant 16% increase year-on-year and a 9% rise month-on-month. Since the beginning of the year, cumulative retail sales have totaled 8.23 million units, up 9% compared to the same period last year.
Notably, new energy passenger vehicles (NEVs) have also seen impressive growth during this period. Retail sales of NEVs stood at 726,000 units, a 31% year-on-year increase and an 11% month-on-month rise, with a market penetration rate of 53.5%. Since the start of the year, cumulative retail sales of NEVs have hit 4.05 million units, representing a 35% year-on-year growth.
