Hong Kong's three major stock indices surged initially but closed sharply lower on May 27. The Hang Seng Index retreated by 0.18%, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index declined by 0.3%, and the Hang Seng TECH Index dropped 0.58%. Large technology stocks exhibited a mixed bag of performances on the market. The pharmaceutical sector witnessed promising developments, propelling biopharmaceutical stocks to notable gains. Beer stocks also managed to gain traction amidst the broader market weakness. However, the auto sector persisted in its downward spiral, dragging down lithium battery stocks, auto dealer stocks, and Tesla concept stocks. Additionally, semiconductor and shipping stocks broadly posted declines.
