The BMW Group has proudly announced the commencement of road testing in Munich for the world's first BMW i7 prototype, equipped with cutting-edge All-Solid-State Batteries (ASSB). This historic milestone signifies a significant leap forward in the collaboration between BMW and Solid Power, as the ASSB technology transitions from laboratory experimentation to practical, real-world automotive applications. Built upon the existing i7 model, this test vehicle incorporates sulfide electrolyte prismatic batteries developed by Solid Power, with the objective of surmounting the integration challenges associated with solid-state batteries and thereby boosting energy density, fast charging capabilities, and overall safety performance.
