On May 23, Nissan Motor Company announced that due to the progression of its reform plan, the company anticipates incurring an extra ¥60 billion (approximately $418 million) in restructuring costs for the current fiscal year. For the fiscal year ending in March of this year, Nissan's net profit turned negative, registering a loss of ¥670.9 billion. To address this, the company plans to reduce its workforce by 20,000 employees over the course of fiscal years 2024 to 2027.
