In April, retail sales of passenger vehicles, in a narrow sense, totaled 1.755 million units, marking a year-on-year increase of 14.5%. Notably, new energy vehicle (NEV) sales surged by 33.9% year-on-year to 905,000 units, achieving a high penetration rate of 51.5%. Looking ahead to May, retail sales of passenger vehicles are forecasted to hover around 1.85 million units, reflecting an 8.5% year-on-year growth and a 5.4% month-on-month increase. Furthermore, NEV sales are projected to reach 980,000 units, maintaining a penetration rate of approximately 52.9%, underscoring the robust development trajectory of new energy vehicles.
