On May 22, BYD achieved a significant milestone by overtaking Tesla in European electric vehicle sales for the first time. According to data compiled by the market research firm Jato Dynamics, BYD recorded 7,231 new electric vehicle sales in April, marking a remarkable year-on-year increase of 169%. This surge propelled BYD into the top 10 sales rankings. In contrast, Tesla's sales plummeted by 49%, causing a significant drop in its ranking. When considering plug-in hybrid vehicles, BYD's sales advantage becomes even more evident, with total sales soaring by an impressive 359%.
