Tesla CEO Elon Musk has definitively dismissed the notion of acquiring Uber, emphasizing that as Tesla's autonomous driving technology progresses, users will soon be able to summon self-driving vehicles directly, thereby negating the necessity for traditional ride-hailing services. Tesla aims to establish an autonomous fleet comprising its own vehicles and those voluntarily contributed by car owners. The company has announced plans to launch a Robotaxi pilot project in Austin by the end of June 2025. In contrast, Uber is advancing the commercialization of its autonomous services through partnerships with various autonomous driving companies. Despite Tesla and Uber collaborating on electric vehicle promotion, Musk remains unenthusiastic about teaming up with Uber in the Robotaxi sector. Market research forecasts that the global Robotaxi market will reach $45.7 billion by 2030.
