In April 2025, Tesla's electric vehicle (EV) shipments in China reached a total of 58,459 units, marking a 6% decrease from the same period last year and a 25.8% drop compared to the previous month. This represents the seventh consecutive month of year-on-year shipment decline. Specifically, Tesla's sales in the Chinese market amounted to 28,731 units, a decline of 8.6% year-on-year and a significant drop of 61% compared to the 74,127 units sold in March. Initially, the launch of the refreshed Model Y provided a brief sales boost, but sales quickly succumbed to the competitive pressure from emerging domestic automakers. Consequently, analysts have revised their expectations for Tesla's full-year deliveries downwards. The factors contributing to this sales decline include the negative repercussions of Musk's political remarks and the increasing encroachment on Tesla's market share in China by local brands.
