Tesla is poised to unveil its autonomous ride-hailing fleet in Austin this June, initially deploying 10 to 20 Model Y vehicles, with plans to gradually expand to additional cities. Unlike conventional FSD models, this fleet will feature a robust team of remotely operated safety officers who will intervene promptly via a state-of-the-art remote monitoring system, ensuring the utmost driving safety. Tesla has shared a compelling video demonstration, showcasing how passengers can seamlessly hail a ride using their mobile phones, with a dedicated safety officer stationed in the front seat and passengers comfortably seated in the back. Looking ahead, Tesla envisages producing a specialized fleet of driverless taxis that it will directly own and operate, further solidifying its position in the autonomous transportation space.
