The initially scheduled 25% tariff rate, due to take effect on May 3, will be adjusted to permit automakers to receive tariff compensation equivalent to 3.75% of the value of U.S.-made cars within the first year, which will then decrease to 2.75% in the second year, and eventually be phased out.
