In retaliation, John Krafcik, Waymo's former CEO, responded that despite Tesla's frequent declarations of intent to compete, it had yet to roll out an autonomous taxi service. Krafcik underscored that discussing costs in the context of safety is irrelevant, and while Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system has shown progress, it is still far from delivering a truly autonomous service. Conversely, Tesla intends to introduce a cost-effective autonomous taxi, the Cybercab, with production anticipated to commence in 2026.
