On April 24, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) published data revealing a 1.9% year-on-year decline in new car registrations within the European Union during the first quarter of this year. Notably, the market share of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid vehicles expanded further, while the segment of traditional fuel vehicles experienced a notable contraction. Specifically, gasoline car registrations saw a 20.6% decrease to 779,000 units, accounting for 28.7% of the total market. Diesel car registrations also plummeted by 27.1%, resulting in a market share of 9.5%. In stark contrast, battery electric vehicle registrations surged by 23.9% to 413,000 units, capturing 15.2% of the overall market share, an increase of 3.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
