The United States House of Representatives is scheduled to vote next week on a Republican initiative aimed at overturning a pivotal policy endorsed by the Biden administration. This policy authorizes California to halt the sale of purely gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035. On Wednesday, the office of House Majority Leader Scalise announced that lawmakers will deliberate on repealing the exemption granted to California by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Biden administration in December of last year. This exemption permits California to enforce a mandate requiring at least 80% of new vehicles to be electric by 2035. Currently, eleven states, including New York, Massachusetts, and Oregon, have adopted these regulations.
