The 2025 Shanghai Auto Show commenced on April 23, marking a significant milestone. At the event, Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, made a groundbreaking announcement: the inaugural new-generation model specifically designed for the Chinese market is the BMW iX3L. Currently, this locally manufactured BMW next-generation model has successfully rolled off the production line at the Shenyang facility and has entered a rigorous testing phase, with an anticipated official debut in the Chinese market in the coming year. BMW Group's cumulative investment in Shenyang has surpassed RMB 116 billion, establishing the largest production base in the world for the brand. Zipse further disclosed that the initial batch of locally produced next-generation models will commence production in Shenyang in 2026. Between 2026 and 2027, BMW plans to introduce over 20 new models, including next-generation offerings, to the market.
