On April 23, Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, made a bold announcement at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. He revealed that over the next five years, Changan Automobile will adhere to five key powertrain routes: Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Range-Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles. The company plans to introduce 45 new products during this period, with 37 of them being new energy vehicles. Zhu emphasized that Changan Automobile envisions the future car as an evolving intelligent car robot. To realize this vision, the company has deconstructed the car into a sophisticated six-layer architecture, spanning from L1 to L6.
