On April 21, 2025, Tesla's innovative electric pickup truck, the Cybertruck, encountered a significant sales downturn, prompting the company to slash production. According to a report by Business Insider USA, George Saliba, the proprietor and general manager of J&S AutoHaus, a high-end car and SUV dealership in New Jersey, revealed that Cybertruck sales are currently languishing. Saliba noted that the electric pickup, once hailed as a symbol of prestige, is now struggling to find buyers. Since its inception at the end of 2023, the Cybertruck has failed to meet Tesla's sales projections, with a mere 6,406 units sold in the first quarter of 2025—a steep decline of 50.8% compared to the previous quarter.

Moreover, the product has been plagued by severe quality issues, necessitating a cumulative total of 8 recalls within just 15 months of its launch. Amid sluggish sales and mounting inventory, Tesla has resorted to promotional tactics, including substantial discounts and a lifetime of free Supercharging services. However, these measures have proven ineffective in reviving sales.
