The Shanghai Municipal Government and Toyota Motor Corporation have officially inked a strategic cooperation agreement, heralding the establishment of a dedicated Lexus pure electric vehicle and battery research and development production facility in Jinshan District, Shanghai. Fully funded by Toyota, this new venture will leverage the robust local industrial chain and efficient logistics network to develop Lexus-branded electric vehicle models. With plans to commence production in 2027, this marks the end of a long era of reliance on imports for locally produced Lexus vehicles.
