Tesla's robot team is currently embarking on an ambitious recruitment drive, offering a total of 80 positions dedicated to the Optimus robot, predominantly at its U.S.-based production facilities. Roughly 66% of these roles are centered on artificial intelligence and robotics technology, spanning diverse domains including software development, manufacturing, and engineering. Tesla intends to commence pilot production of between 10,000 and 12,000 Optimus units this year, with the initial batch undergoing rigorous testing within the factory before being progressively rolled out to the market. Looking ahead, Tesla aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 500,000 robots by 2027, with the ultimate goal of replacing repetitive labor, executing tasks in specialized environments, and potentially contributing to Mars exploration plans.
