On March 30, Morgan Stanley issued a research report indicating that while automotive components directly affect consumer prices, their weight in relevant indices is relatively modest. Taking into account the tariffs imposed on new vehicles and parts, and assuming a complete transfer of these costs to prices, if the tariffs continue, personal consumption expenditure (PCE) prices could fluctuate by 20 to 30 basis points. Reflecting on the period from 2018 to 2019, inflation accelerated roughly three months following the imposition of tariffs, hinting that inflation for new vehicles and parts may escalate in June to July.
