On March 29th, the prestigious 2025 China Electric Vehicle 100 Forum convened in Beijing. A senior official from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) highlighted the current challenges of disorderly competition within China's automotive industry. Some enterprises are resorting to sacrificing profits to capture market share, resulting in rampant instances of misleading advertising and malicious smear campaigns. This trend not only causes a short-term decline in industry profits but also poses long-term risks by impeding technological innovation, compromising product quality and safety, and undermining overall industrial competitiveness. In response, the NDRC plans to tackle market disarray, normalize competitive practices, intensify price monitoring, foster industry self-regulation, and guide public opinion. The Commission will rigorously oversee the market, investigate and address substandard products, and uphold quality and safety standards. Additionally, it aims to dismantle local protectionism and market segmentation, in line with the objective of establishing a unified national market.
