Previously, Chen Hong, the former chairman of SAIC Motor, had declined to collaborate with Huawei, citing concerns about losing technological independence and emphasizing the need to develop its own electronic and electrical architecture. However, following the inauguration of current President Jia Jianxu, who actively championed cooperation with Huawei, Chen Hong's stance underwent a transformation after a visit from Jia. Chen Hong now believes that collaborating with Huawei represents a timely opportunity to jointly propel the intelligent development of the automotive industry. "Shangjie" will serve as the inaugural model of deep cooperation between SAIC and Huawei, signifying a robust alliance in the realm of intelligent vehicles.
