President Trump of the United States has announced the imposition of a maximum 25% tariff on all vehicles not manufactured domestically, effective April 2. In a live broadcast, Trump stated that this tariff will gradually escalate from the current base rate of 2.5% to 25%, with the aim of incentivizing automakers to establish factories within the US. This new tariff is projected to generate an additional $100 billion in revenue for the US annually.
