36Kr exclusively revealed that CATL's battery swapping business is undergoing rapid expansion. Recently, CATL has forged a strategic partnership with NIO and intends to invest up to RMB 2.5 billion in NIO Power. Moreover, CATL is also considering an investment in Wuhan WEiNeng, a battery asset company closely associated with NIO, albeit with a sum less than RMB 2.5 billion. Wuhan WEiNeng, serving as NIO's battery asset management arm, is responsible for the oversight of battery assets under NIO's innovative BaaS (Battery as a Service) model, while the operational and maintenance aspects of battery swapping are managed by NIO Power. Consequently, Wuhan WEiNeng is colloquially referred to as NIO's "battery bank".
