During the Two Sessions, He Xiaopeng, the Chairman of Xiaopeng Motors, engaged in a dialogue with the media, sharing his insights on the future of China's new energy vehicle (NEV) industry. He forecasted a critical three-year knockout phase, followed by a 3-5 year promotional period. He Xiaopeng believes that by the end of this intense competition, the number of surviving NEV enterprises may dwindle to no more than seven, with an even more pessimistic outlook placing this figure within five. He referenced the dramatic transformation of the traditional automotive sector, which saw a reduction from approximately 400 enterprises a decade ago to just 40 today, marked by swift mergers and acquisitions.
