The esteemed British luxury automaker Aston Martin, struggling to keep abreast with the global shift towards electric vehicles, has announced plans to lay off 5% of its workforce in an effort to save £25 million. The company reported a 9% decline in wholesale sales last year, with an alarming 49% drop in sales in the Chinese market. Furthermore, Aston Martin's total debt has surged by 43%, exceeding £10 billion. Amidst intensifying competition in the electric vehicle market, the brand's market share has continued to dwindle, and the release of its inaugural pure electric vehicle model has been postponed. To navigate these challenges, Aston Martin has forged a partnership with Lucid Motors, aiming to harness their technology to develop electric sports cars.
