During the 2025 Landshut Technology Day, the BMW Group unveiled its groundbreaking sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology, which boasts a large cylindrical battery system and a novel 800V high-voltage platform enabling ultra-rapid charging. This latest iteration of the power battery adopts a large cylindrical cell design, resulting in a slimmer battery pack that enhances energy density by 20%, extends driving range by 30%, and accelerates charging speeds by 30%. Coupled with the 800V high-voltage platform, vehicles can achieve an additional 300 kilometers of range with just 10 minutes of fast charging. BMW has commenced trial production of the sixth-generation power battery at its Shenyang facility and intends to follow suit with the first complete vehicle of the new generation. Furthermore, BMW is partnering with Chinese firms like CATL and EVE Energy to expedite mass production of large cylindrical cells. By leveraging its proprietary motor and battery pack integration technology, BMW ensures that its electric vehicle models continue to embody the brand's renowned driving pleasure.
