On Tuesday, Tesla unveiled the long-awaited update to its autonomous driving system in China, previously known as Full Self-Driving (FSD) and now rebranded as "Enhanced Autopilot." However, this release has fallen short of expectations among Chinese car owners, failing to meet the bold promises made by Elon Musk. The new system boasts features like urban Autopilot, but its performance lags behind the US version due to the insufficient training data tailored to Chinese road and traffic regulations. Tesla had initially intended to introduce the FSD system in China by the end of 2024 but pushed the launch to this year. This has led to dissatisfaction among Chinese car owners, who believe that the intelligent driving capabilities offered by Tesla are inferior to those of local automakers, despite coming at a higher cost.
