Guided by the promising industry data for passenger vehicles in January 2025 and national policies aimed at boosting sales, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) has made a modest revision to its 2025 annual industry forecast. According to the latest projections, passenger vehicle retail sales in 2025 are anticipated to reach 23.43 million units, marking a 2% year-on-year increase. Wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles are expected to surge by 28% to 15.65 million units, while passenger vehicle exports are forecasted to grow by 10% to 5.27 million units. Overall, the national automobile wholesale volume is projected to reach 32.66 million units, representing a 4% year-on-year increase. Notably, despite retail sales of passenger vehicles in the national market totaling 1.794 million units in January, a decline of 12.1% year-on-year and 31.9% month-on-month, these figures surpassed initial expectations. Consequently, the CPCA has revised upwards its total retail sales forecast. Looking ahead, the Chinese passenger vehicle market is expected to witness sustained growth in February, with new energy vehicles serving as the primary growth engine, while the traditional fuel vehicle market continues to exhibit a contracting trend.
