The controversy erupted after Zheng Qinwen defeated Andreeva 2-0 in the 2026 China Open women's singles final to claim the title — becoming the first Chinese woman to win the China Open and securing her first WTA 1000-level championship. SAIC Audi's official account subsequently published a post titled "Congratulations to Qinwen on winning the championship — AUDI entire lineup, buy one get one free," which quickly drew public attention. Consumers later discovered that the "buy one get one free" offer actually applied to model cars, and the "entire lineup" referred only to two Audi electric vehicle models. SAIC Audi said it had promptly revised the wording of the promotional poster.
