Geely has unveiled its new-generation methanol-electric hybrid technology, with the first model equipped with this system—the Galaxy Star Glory 6 E-Fuel—now officially on sale. The system is compatible with methanol, gasoline, and electric power. It adopts pre-pressurized high-energy ignition technology to overcome the cold-start challenges associated with methanol, and uses methanol-resistant materials to address corrosion issues. The methanol cost per 100 kilometers is far lower than that of gasoline-powered vehicles and conventional plug-in hybrid models. The new vehicle is available in three trims. Since Geely began its methanol technology layout in 2005, the company has invested over 10 billion yuan cumulatively.
