On November 3, foreign media reported that one year after BYD began assembling cars in Brazil, its market share has more than doubled, accelerating its push to become a leading player in the Brazilian auto market. According to a BYD statement, in the year through October, the company registered 193,227 vehicles in Brazil, an increase of more than 120% compared with the same period in 2025, with market share rising from 4.2% a year earlier to 9.7%. In October alone, BYD vehicle registrations reached 24,114 units, up 137.6% year on year. BYD said the plant has assembled more than 150,000 vehicles and created 9,500 jobs. Plant construction is now in its final stage, with welding and painting facilities undergoing advanced operational testing, and significant progress has also been made in the construction of the stamping plant, which upon completion will fill in the remaining manufacturing facilities needed for local production. Alexandre Baldy, BYD's senior vice president, said the goal is to become the leader in the Brazilian auto market by 2030, and current performance shows the company is fully equipped to achieve that goal.
