The issue at hand involves allegations that Tesla's self-driving taxis were observed speeding in school zones, presenting yet another hurdle for its already sluggish Robotaxi business. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that it is currently assessing claims that Tesla's Cybercab and Model Y vehicles surpassed speed limits in designated school areas while operating under their autonomous driving systems.
According to documents disclosed by the agency on Monday, this review was initiated in response to a recent petition. This petition was submitted along with video footage providing evidence of multiple such incidents.
