In September 2026, China’s automotive industry reported production and sales figures of 2.99 million and 2.956 million units, respectively, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 8.7% in production and 8.4% in sales. Notably, the new energy vehicle (NEV) segment stood out, achieving production and sales volumes of 1.814 million and 1.823 million units, respectively, representing a year-on-year surge of 12.2% in production and 13.6% in sales. The NEVs accounted for a substantial 61.6% of the total new vehicle sales during the month.
