Significant Shift in BMW’s China Product Strategy: Recently, Nicolas Peter, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, confirmed that BMW will fully exit the UKL small and compact vehicle segment in the Chinese market. This move represents the most substantial regional product line adjustment BMW has made for China to date. Several models previously based on the UKL platform, including the 1 Series sedan, 2 Series Active Tourer, 2 Series Gran Coupe, X1, and X2, will cease to have new iterations introduced.

The primary driver behind this adjustment is the intense competition within the RMB 200,000 price bracket, coupled with the emergence of new energy vehicle brands and the diminishing competitive edge of traditional luxury brands' entry-level fuel-powered vehicles. BMW has now redirected its strategic focus towards next-generation products, exemplified by the new BMW iX3. This model has already opened for pre-orders at the Chengdu Motor Show, boasting a unified starting price of RMB 269,900 across the nation and coming standard with nearly 40 high-value features.

Looking ahead, BMW Group has outlined plans to introduce approximately 20 new or updated models in the Chinese market by 2026. These will span across the three brands under its umbrella: BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad.
