On October 12, reports indicated that four departments, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recently jointly issued the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Management of Innovative Design, R&D, Testing, and Verification of Automotive Products (Draft for Public Comments)." Zhang Hong, a member of the Expert Committee at the China Automobile Dealers Association, remarked that the new regulations are set to encourage the design of new energy vehicles to refocus on their fundamental purpose as safe transportation tools. Consumers are not opposed to electrification and intelligent features; however, they are averse to compromising operational efficiency for the sake of a high-tech aesthetic. The reintroduction of physical buttons will simplify the learning process during test drives and reduce the time required for sales explanations. Nevertheless, factors that truly influence purchasing decisions also encompass driving range, energy replenishment options, pricing, after-sales service, and overall reliability. Currently, consumer priorities have shifted from seeking a high-tech feel through extensive screen usage to emphasizing safety, reliability, and user-friendliness.
