From October 8 to 9, 2026, Beijing hosted the second regular session of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism. During this meeting, both sides engaged in pragmatic and in-depth discussions, culminating in several key consensus points. They pledged to:
- Persist in exploring tariff reductions for specific goods;
- Enhance communication and collaboration regarding trade monitoring mechanisms;
- Achieve a mutual understanding on hybrid vehicle trade, adhering strictly to World Trade Organization (WTO) regulations;
- Continue to progress with enterprise price undertakings and review procedures related to the electric vehicle anti-subsidy case;
- Maintain an open dialogue on crucial issues, including market access for medical devices;
- Strengthen the China-EU export control dialogue, thereby bolstering the stability of global industrial and supply chains;
- Further cooperate in tackling intellectual property challenges;
- Openly enhance cooperation on WTO reform initiatives.
Both parties have agreed to reconvene for the third regular meeting of the mechanism in March 2027.
