Throughout the bustling travel period of the National Day holiday, the necessity for charging new energy vehicles at highway service areas witnessed a significant upsurge. This led to extensive queues forming at charging stations in frequently visited service areas. Vehicle owners were compelled to take queue numbers and patiently wait their turn to charge their cars, a scenario reminiscent of the lines formed for food in a cafeteria.

Certain car owners recounted an incident at the Dazhou North Service Area along the G65 Baotou-Maoming Expressway, where a new energy vehicle 'ran dry' and became immobilized after its battery level plummeted to a mere 1%. Even when it was maneuvered to a charging station, there remained dozens of vehicles ahead in the queue.

The State Grid Smart Vehicle Internet Platform forecasts that the peak charging period on October 1st will span from 7 am to 8 pm. It anticipates that the platform's aggregate charging volume will surpass 38.65 million kilowatt-hours, marking a year-on-year surge of over 18% compared to the peak of the corresponding period in the previous year. In anticipation of this charging surge, the State Grid Corporation of China has strategically pre-positioned 435 emergency charging guns at stations that are prone to experiencing queues.
