LG Innotek, in collaboration with autonomous driving software firm Applied Intuition, is set to roll out vehicles for collecting perception data related to autonomous driving across South Korea. These vehicles will amass real-world road data to fine-tune the performance of cameras, radars, and LiDAR systems, thereby bolstering the overall autonomous driving perception solution. The two entities forged a strategic partnership in March of this year, and the vehicles have since commenced operations in regions including Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do.

LG Innotek envisions operating around 20 vehicles for data collection and the advancement of autonomous driving software in South Korea by 2028. Once processed, the collected data will serve to optimize sensor performance and validate systems. Moreover, it will be integrated with digital twin technology to inform product development and testing processes.

LG Innotek will concentrate on honing sensor fusion technology and amassing data from specialized scenarios to elevate sensor performance under intricate conditions. The insights gained from these endeavors will be leveraged to devise comprehensive perception solutions encompassing various sensor types and facilitate expansion into the European and American markets. Subsequently, vehicles outfitted with pertinent perception modules will also be deployed in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Both parties will persist in refining their products by incorporating real-world road data from diverse regions.
