On the 25th, the German Federal Motor Transport Authority reported that Volkswagen Group confirmed on the same day its decision to initiate a global recall of approximately 2.86 million vehicles due to potential safety hazards in their steering systems. Out of this total, roughly 960,000 vehicles will be recalled within Germany. The affected models encompass Volkswagen Tiguan, Touran, Golf, and others manufactured between 2013 and 2024, as well as Audi models produced from 2017 to 2024. According to the authority, the retaining bolts in the steering systems of the vehicles subject to recall may be susceptible to fracture as a result of corrosion, which, in severe instances, could lead to steering malfunction.
